Josh Hawley’s campaign is selling mugs of the Missouri senator’s fist pump to Trump supporters outside Congress shortly before the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
The photo, which some believe would come back to haunt Hawley after the mob stormed the Capitol, is featured on the mug with the words “Show Me strong ” and goes for $20 on Hawley’s website.
“Liberals are so easily triggered, and this new mug is really whipping the left into a frenzy!” Hawley’s campaign said in an email.
“Josh isn’t scared — he’s show-me strong! This Made in America mug is the perfect way to enjoy Coffee, Tea, or Liberal Tears! Check it out below, and order one for yourself or any woke friend or family member that you want to trigger!” the campaign added.
Hawley was the first Republican senator to publicly announce plans to challenge the results of the election on Jan. 6 in Congress. After the insurrection, some Republicans in his home state criticized him for his role in the riot and publicly ended their support for him.
Hawley defended his fist pump to the insurrectionists in April last year telling the Washington Post: “That was as I was entering the House chamber the morning of the 6th. Those were demonstrators who were out there on the plaza, on the far end of the plaza … standing behind barricades, waving American flags.”
“Some of them were calling, so I gestured toward them,” he added. “They had every right to be there. … When I walked by that particular group of folks were standing there peacefully behind police barricades.”
