Long before Kayleigh McEnany boarded the Trump train she was ridin with Biden, ok not really but she was well aware of the risks a candidate like Biden poses to someone like Donald Trump.
In a 2015 interview unearthed by CNN’s KFile, McEnany, who now echoes her boss’ attacks on Biden praised the then VP as “funny and likable” and a true “man of the people” who resonates with middle class voters.
McEnany said Republicans could run into problems if Biden was running against someone like Trump in 2016.
“I think the Republicans run into a problem if it is Joe Biden and if it is maybe a Trump on the other side,” McEnany said. “Because Joe Biden, one of the things he is remarkable at is really kind of being a man of the people and resonating with middle class voters. Feeling like — coming off as human. His gaffes — as much as we make fun of them — to a certain extent they make him look human. So not, since he’s likable.”
She did say that Biden would have been an easier opponent against the Republicans in 2016 than Hillary Clinton but added that “the juxtaposition of kind of the man of the people and kind of this tycoon, is a problem.”
