Lara Trump says debates are ‘rigged’

Lara Trump is already calling the debates 'rigged'

Co-chair of the Republican National Committee and Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, is already calling the upcoming presidential debates “rigged” hours after her father-in-law agreed to debate President Joe Biden.

On Wednesday, Trump accepted Biden’s challenge for two debates. The first will be June 27 on CNN and will be moderated by Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. The second will air Sept. 10 on ABC.

There will be no audience for the debates and the microphone will only be turned on when a candidate is recognized to speak.

Lara Trump railed against the rules in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday.

“It’s rigged so heavily in Joe Biden’s favor, but everything always is!” she said, according to a clip highlighted by Mediaite.

She continued: “You’ve got Hollywood against Donald Trump. You’ve got the music industry against Donald Trump. Mainstream media….if Joe Biden shows up on June 27th and doesn’t come up with an excuse like he has to wash his hair or something, I have full confidence that Donald Trump will outperform him.”

Trump isn’t the only member of the former president’s circle to attack the debates.

Failed GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy claims the debates are actually a ‘set up’.

“Call me cynical, but why is Biden suddenly so willing to debate? It could be because he’s desperate, or it could be because it’s a set-up,” Ramaswamy said. “Keep an eye on the details of how all this comes together. You don’t often see a sudden 180 like this unless there’s more to the story.”

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) is also skeptical.

“With CNN moderating, is it even a debate?” he asked. “It seems like it should be called something else. It’d be a far more accurate description of CNN’s intentions to call it something like: ‘Live From CNN: Let’s Make Biden Look Presidential While Turning Trump Into A Piñata.'”
