Laura Loomer, the far right activist who attended events commemorating the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks with Donald Trump this week, is back to pushing conspiracy theories about the tragedy days later.
Trump has been under fire for taking Loomer as his guest to 9/11 memorial events in New York City and Shanksville, Pennsylvania on Wednesday.
Among other things, Loomer is a 9/11 truther who believes that U.S. officials are hiding information about the Sept. 11 attacks to coverup their involvement in the planning of the attack. Last year, she posted that 9/11 was an “inside job.”
Despite the negative headlines she has generated for the former president in the past two days, Loomer doubled down on her conspiracy theory Friday in posts on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“23 years later, and there’s still a lot of unanswered questions. The 9/11 documents are still classified to this day. The American people deserve to know the entire truth. Not just what our lying government chose to tell us,” Loomer wrote.
“There’s so many unanswered questions… Why?” she added then attached a video of Trump speculating that bombs may have been placed in the Twin Towers.
“PS: Whatever you do….Do NOT google Building 7,” she wrote in another post.
World Trade Center building 7 collapsed about seven hours after the twin towers came down. This has fueled conspiracy theories that someone intentionally blew up the building in a controlled demolition.
An investigation found that the structure collapsed as a result of intense fires started by falling debris from the towers. The collapse of the nearby towers also broke the city water main, leaving the sprinkler system in the bottom half of the building without water.
In response to the backlash for taking Loomer as a guest to 9/11 events, the Trump campaign said in a statement: “Today, President Trump put politics aside and stood beside Kamala Harris and Joe Biden to honor those who lost their lives during the worst terrorist attack in our nation’s history. The day wasn’t about anyone other than the souls who are no longer with us, their families, and the heroes who courageously stepped up to save their fellow Americans on that fateful day.”
Still, Loomer has been spotted with the former president at other events including departing Trump’s plane when he landed in Philadelphia for Tuesday’s debate.
Loomer’s presence alongside Trump has raised concerns among some of the former president’s staunchest allies that it could affect his chances of winning the election.
“I’ve spoken with President Trump, but I’m not going to go into the details of our personal conversation,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) told The Bulwark.
“We have policy disagreements but the history of this person is just really toxic,” Sen. Lindsey Graham told HuffPost on Thursday.
“I mean, she actually called for Kellyanne Conway’s daughter to hang herself. I don’t know how this all happened, but, no, I don’t think it’s helpful. I don’t think it’s helpful at all,” he added.
