Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C) called former President Donald Trump a liar during this first impeachment for withholding aid to Ukraine, but said hanging out with him is a lot of fun.
Graham reportedly told authors Peter Baker and Susan Glasser that Trump is a “lying motherfucker,” according to a newly released excerpt from their upcoming book The Divider: Trump in the White House 2017-2021 first reported by The Independent.
In the same exchange, Graham also allegedly said Trump is a “lot of fun to hang out with.”
Graham also acknowledged the hold Trump has on the Republican Party, telling the authors that Trump “could kill fifty people on our side and it wouldn’t matter.”
Graham was serving as the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee at the time and vowed to make the trial go away as quickly as possible after Trump was impeached by the House.
“I am trying to give a pretty clear signal I have made up my mind,” Graham said at the time. “I’m not trying to pretend to be a fair juror here.”
The book is set to come out later this month.
