Lindsey Graham threatens Biden with impeachment over Afghanistan.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R S.C.) said President Joe Biden would have committed a high crime and misdemeanor and should be impeached if any American is left in Afghanistan while the country is under Taliban rule.

In a tweet on Friday, Graham said America is “duty bound” to evacuate its citizen and “honour-bound” to do the same for the Afghans who aided America’s efforts in the country.

“If we leave one American behind. If we don’t get all those Afghans who stepped up to the plate to help us out then Joe Biden, in my view, has committed a high crime and misdemeanor under the Constitution and should be impeached,” Graham said.

In 2019, Graham criticized Donald Trump for abandoning the Kurds, when he withdrew from Syria. Graham did not call for Trump to be impeached. In fact, he reversed his stance a few days later saying Trump’s policy could succeed.

Because of chaos and insecurity in Kabul, the military has so far been unable to meet its goal of moving up to 9,000 people through the Kabul airport and out of the country every day. There were no flights out of Kabul airport for eight hours, according to CNN’s chief international correspondent Clarissa Ward.

In a speech on Friday President Joe Biden said “significant progress” has been made in getting Americans and allies out of Afghanistan. Flights behave resumed after a “pause” the President said.

“This is one of the largest, most difficult airlifts in history,” Biden said.

“Any Americans who wants to come home, we will get you home,” he added. “We’re going to do everything, everything that we can, to provide safe evacuation for our Afghan allies, partners and Afghans who might be targeted because of their association with the United States. The United States stands by the commitment it made to these people.”
