Liz Cheney's spokesperson to Matt Gaetz: "In Wyoming, the men don’t wear make-up.”

Liz Cheney’s spokesperson is giving Congressman Matt Gaetz some advice ahead of his trip to Wyoming on Thursday to attend a rally where he will once again call for Cheney to step down as the House Republican Conference chair.

“Rep. Gaetz can leave his beauty bag at home,” Cheney’s spokesperson told the Washington Examiner on Sunday. “In Wyoming, the men don’t wear make-up.”

Cheney has been “fighting to keep her political career alive,” since she joined nine of her Republicans colleagues in the House to vote to impeach Donald Trump.

She has been facing calls to resign from some vocal Trump allies, like Gaetz.

House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy said he has concerns over Cheney’s vote. “She never told me ahead of time. One thing about leadership, if we’re going to work together, we should understand. We know that this is going to become a difficulty,” McCarthy said.

In response to calls for her resignation, Cheney said she has no plans to go anywhere.

“All of us have an obligation to the Constitution and an obligation to do what we believe is right, what our oath compels us to do, that is above politics, above partisanship,” Cheney said on Fox. “That is, I think, very important, and it’s incumbent on all of us. We came to different decisions within our conference about that issue.”
