Louisiana Republican governor blames George Soros for inmates escaping New Orleans jail.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry (R) blamed billionaire Democratic donor George Soros for the escape of 10 inmates from a New Orleans jail on Friday.

“The system as a whole is broken in that city, and we intend to fix it,” Landry said in an interview on NewsNation Tuesday.

“George Soros came over the last decade or so and spent a ton of money in the city of New Orleans, electing these progressive people,” Landry added. “It’s like he came [as] Santa Claus, and inside his sack, he put out a [district attorney], a sheriff, and I think about six judges, and we have been having problems in the city ever since now.”

Landry, a close ally of Donald Trump, similarity blamed Soros after voters’ rejection four constitutional amendment the governor backed in March relating to crime, courts and finances.

“Soros and far left liberals poured millions into Louisiana with propaganda and outright lies about Amendment 2,” Landry said in a statement at the time. “Although we are disappointed in tonight’s results, we do not see this as a failure. We realize how hard positive change can be to implement in a State that is conditioned for failure.”

The inmates, ranging in age from 16 to 42, escaped through a hole in the wall behind a toilet and sink unit at the Orleans Parish Prison after pulling a “defective” cell door off its hinges, according to authorities.

Five of the 10 inmates have been recaptured so far, while five remain at large and are considered armed and dangerous.
