Politico has obtained photographs of Republican congressman Madison Cawthorn (N.C) wearing women’s clothing.
Cawthorn a staunch conservative who “subscribe to Judeo-Christian beliefs” and hypermasculinity was photographed wearing a lingerie at a party. The photos were provided to Politico by a person “formerly close to Cawthorn and his campaign”. A second person confirmed that the photos were real.
It is not clear when the photos were taken, though they appear to show Cawthorn sitting in a wheelchair, indicating the event happened after his accident in 2014 that left him paralyzed from the waist down.

This is the latest in a string of bad headlines for the freshman lawmaker who is up for re-election later this year.
He recently claimed colleagues invited him to orgies and that he watched lawmakers do drugs. He later admitted that he exaggerated but that was after his comments angered some of his GOP colleagues including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.
Since his election Cawthorn has insisted that men should be masculine and bemoans what he sees as today’s “generation of soft men” who unlike him were not raised on “Proverbs and pushups.”
“I think that we have bred a generation of soft men and that generation has created a lot of problems in our society and our culture,” he said in March 2021 on a podcast “designed to reclaim and restore masculinity in a society that is ever more dismissive of what it means to be a man.”
Cawthorn defended the photos in a tweet on Friday calling them “goofy vacation photos.”
