MAGA Republican launches primary challenge to Kevin McCarthy.

McCarthy: Nancy Mace hasn't "earned the right to get reelected.”

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif. ) is getting a primary challenger from the MAGA wing of the Republican Party.

David Giglio, a self-proclaimed “America First Republican” announced the challenge to McCarthy on Monday weeks after the California Republican was ousted from the speakership.

“Kevin McCarthy was removed as Speaker by 8 courageous members of his own party for failing to keep his promises and capitulating to Joe Biden and the radical Democrats,” Giglio said in his press release. “Kevin McCarthy must be defeated.”

McCarthy was removed as Speaker on October 3 by eight Republicans, led by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.). His ouster brought the House to a halt for three weeks as Republicans struggled to find a new Speaker. They ultimately settled on Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.), whose rise to the speakership was hailed as a win for MAGA by Gaetz.

“Now more than ever, it is imperative that we replace career politicians and elect America First Republicans who will secure the southern border, stop the weaponization of government, drain the corrupt swamp, and annihilate permanent Washington,” Giglio said.

“The American people want and deserve radical change, and I intend to do whatever it takes to fight, win, and deliver!” he added.
