An attempt by a Republican-backed Senate candidate in Minnesota to show “out of control” crime in Minneapolis hilariously backfired after he mistakenly posted a map of the city’s public water fountains instead.
Royce White, 33, a former NBA player, posted a map on X Tuesday showing a mass of green, red, and yellow dots.
“Crime in Minneapolis… Out of control. Come on now. Refund the Police!” he wrote.
But, the map actually shows drinking fountains in Minneapolis, according to Minnesota Reformer reporter Christopher Ingraham.
The dots on the map indicate which fountains are on (green), off (red) and closed for repairs (yellow).
White deleted the post after he was called out and has replaced the image with a map showing actual crimes in Minneapolis.
He also attack Ingraham for pointing out the error.
“You’re a cuck. We’re leaving the plantation,” White wrote. “You and your weird liberal buddies read it and weep.”
The Minnesota Republican Party endorsed White in May to take on Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) in November.
White’s gaffe comes as Republicans are trying to push the narrative that violent crimes are rising in America due to Democratic policies especially in blue cities.
But, a crime report from the FBI shows that violent crimes are down more than 15 percent compared to last year. The report shows that murder decreased by 26.4 percent, rape decreased by 25.7 percent, robbery decreased by 17.8 percent, and aggravated assault decreased by 12.5 percent. Reported property crime also decreased by 15.1 percent.
