A MAGA supporter cited Amazon’s Alexa as the source of her bonkers conspiracy theory that the US government controlled hurricanes to hurt Donald Trump’s election chances.
More than 230 people have been killed from Hurricane Helene, which wreaked havoc in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee late last month.
The Good Liars interviewed the woman who was waiting in line to attend a Trump rally in Pennsylvania as another hurricane, Milton, was barreling towards Florida.
The video began with The Good Liars’ Jason Selvig asking the woman what she thought about the hurricanes.
“I think there was an upcoming storm, and then I think government set in with whatever it is that they do,” the woman responded. “I’m not an expert in cloud seeding or whatever it is that they used to magnify the storm to a higher degree, to disturb a land that may be wanted for lithium that Harris’ husband is partaking in.”
“You think that Milton, they’re making it stronger?” Selvig asked. “You’re implying that the government made a stronger hurricane to hurt its own country, the United States of America? What would be the gain of that?”
The woman then cited Alexa, saying that, “they’ve asked what caused Milton…It’s already predicted the number of deaths and the amount of time it’s already predicted it”
“If you ask [Alexa] about Helene, it’ll tell you the government actively used seed clouding,” she continued. “This is before Helene even happened.”
The woman argued that the government is sending hurricanes because “they want to control certain places.”
“If you’re looking at where the hurricane’s going, it’s a lot of red states. If you’re looking at the counties in North Carolina that were hit, there were all of them. 26 out of 28 of those counties were for Trump,” she continued. “They’re doing whatever they can because they can’t rig the election.”
The woman’s comments echoed those of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) who suggested that Democrats can control the weather after Hurricane Helene ravaged the Southeastern United States.
“Yes they can control the weather,” Greene wrote in a post on X last Thursday. “It’s ridiculous for anyone to lie and say it can’t be done.”
People who believe the government control hurricanes usually cite cloud seeding which involves introducing tiny ice nuclei into some clouds to help produce rain. The practice has been around since the 1940s and helps to produce small increases in rainfall, not the massive downpour associated with hurricanes capable of causing devastating floods.
