A majority of voters think Donald Trump has committed ‘serious federal crimes’.
According to the New York Times/Siena College poll, 53% of voters believe Trump committed serious federal crimes while 39% said he did not. 9% said they didn’t know or didn’t answer the question.
90% of Democrats, 49% of independents and 17% of Republicans say Trump committed serious federal crimes.
The poll comes as Trump is set to go on trial in New York. He faces 34 criminal counts of allegedly falsifying business records to cover up hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election campaign.
46 percent of likely voters in the NYT/Siena College poll say Trump should be found guilty, while 37 percent said he not.
The poll was conducted from April 7-11 among 1,059 registered voters including 875 who completed the full survey. It has a margin of error of ±3.9 percentage points for likely voters who completed the full survey.
