Man charged after forging letter framing immigrant for Trump assassination threat.

A Milwaukee man has been charged after admitting to forging a letter framing an undocumented migrant for threatening to assassinate Donald Trump.

The man identified as Demetric Scott, 52, is already in Milwaukee County Jail for armed robbery and aggravated battery charges where the migrant, Ramon Morales Reyes, 54, is the victim.

Morales Reyes reportedly identified Scott as the man who kicked him off his bike in September 2023 and cut him before riding off with it.

Scott told investigators that he wrote the letters and sent them to Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman, Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul and the ICE office in Milwaukee on May 21, to frame Morales Reyes because he didn’t want him to testify at trial next month, according to WISN 12.

He admitted the intention behind the letters was to “get this asshole off his back” by getting him deported.

The letter reads, “We are tired of this president messing with us Mexicans. We have done more for this country than you white people—you have been deporting my family and I think it is time Donald J. Trump get what he has coming to him.”

“I will self deport myself back to Mexico but not before I use my 30 yard 6 to shoot your precious president in the head,” possibly at a rally, the handwritten note adds.

After Morales Reyes was arrested on May 22, investigators were suspicious that he wrote the letters since he does not read, write or fluently speak English.

Scott has since been charged with witness intimidation and identity theft.

The matter was still under investigation by the Milwaukee Police Department when Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem put out a statement on X condemning Morales Reyes for threatening Trump’s life.

“All politicians and members of the media should take notice of these repeated attempts on President Trump’s life and tone down their rhetoric,” she added.

Despite new information, Noem’s post falsely labeling Morales Reyes as a potential assassin remains on X with no clarification.

A senior Homeland Security official told CNN last week, “The investigation into the threat is ongoing. Over the course of the investigation, this individual was determined to be in the country illegally and that he had a criminal record. He will remain in custody.”

According to officials, Reyes had attempted to enter the US illegally nine times between 1998 and 2005, and had been arrested for a felony hit and run.
