Manchin calls Trump's indictment a "very sad day for America."

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.) said the indictment of Donald Trump by a Manhattan grand jury last week was a “very sad day for America.”

“It’s just a very, very sad day for America, very sad day,” Manchin said on “Fox News Sunday.” “Especially when people are maybe believing that the rule of law or justice is not working the way it’s supposed to and it’s biased.”

“On the other hand, no one is above the law, but no one should be targeted by the law,” Manchin added. “Lets wait and see what comes out next week. “

Trump was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury last week in connection with District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s investigation into hush payment he authorized to porn star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election.

The charges remain unknown since the indictment will not be unsealed until Trump appears in court.

The former president will reportedly travel to New York on Monday and makes his first appearance in court on Tuesday.

“I pray that whatever comes out, that they have done a thorough examination, they’ve done a thorough job as far as showing the rule of law does work for all of us,” Manchin said of the Manhattan DA’s office. “We’ll just have to wait and see on that.”
