Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is taking credit for federal funds going to her district for infrastructure projects without mentioning the fact that she opposed the bill that provided the funds.
In a newsletter to constituents on Monday, Greene included a link to a story from the Rome News-Tribune about the runway extension at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport.
Greene’s office was cited in the story saying she “meticulously sought out projects that would improve quality of life, increase economic and social development, assist localities with vital funding needs, and harness community support.”
But, the federal funds going towards the runway extension is from a package of funding bills which Greene voted against, even though it included $9.3 million in earmarks for her district, according to Insider.
“Republicans have no excuse for having brought this minibus forward,” she said at time.
Neither Greene nor the article mentioned the fact that she voted against the bills.
“Greene emails her constituents a Rome News-Tribune write-up of her press release boasting she ‘secured over $3.8 million in federal funding for the runway extension at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport.’ The story fails to note that she voted against the bill,” House Democratic staffer Aaron Fritschner on X/Twitter.
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo) is also taking credit for securing $20 million in funding from the same bill which she also voted against, as she runs re-election in a new district, Insider reports.
“Can’t wait for the ribbon cuttings and to see these priorities come to fruition,” Boebert said in a statement.
