Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) appears to suggest that Democrats sent a deadly storm to wreak havoc across the southeastern United States last week.
On Thursday officials announce that the death toll from Hurricane Helene surpassed 200 people over six states, including 33 confirmed deaths in Greene’s home state of Georgia.
“Yes they can control the weather,” Greene wrote in a post on X Thursday. “It’s ridiculous for anyone to lie and say it can’t be done.”
In another post on X, Greene shared a map of the areas most affected by the hurricane overlaid with an electoral map, indicating that the hardest hit areas are mostly Republican counties.
“This is a map of hurricane affected areas with an overlay of electoral map by political party shows how hurricane devastation could affect the election,” she wrote.
Greene is no stranger to promoting conspiracy theories about natural disasters. Before she was elected to Congress Greene said wildfires in California were started by space lasers controlled by the Rothschilds, a wealthy Jewish family.
