Mark Kelly slams Trump over comments suggesting Kamala Harris is not Black: “Desperate, scared old man.”

Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly (D) fired back at Donald Trump on Wednesday after the former president suggested that Vice-President Kamala Harris is not Black.

While speaking at the National Association of Black Journalists convention, Trump said, Harris “was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black. And now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?”

Kelly fired back at Trump calling him a “desperate scared old man.”

“I think those were the comments of a desperate, scared old man who, over the last week especially, has been having his butt kicked by an experienced prosecutor,” Kelly said. “And I think he’s worried. She’s going to win the election in November and she’s going to be our next president. His comments are not unexpected for him. He’s done this before, he’s not going to change, it’s pretty obvious to me why he’s doing this.”

Kelly is reportedly a finalist in the race to become Harris’ running mate. The list also includes Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
