Mark Robinson slams diabetic voter asking about lowering the cost of Insulin: “Nobody came to see you!”

North Carolina Republican Party defends Mark Robinson

North Carolina Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson snapped at a diabetic voter asking about legislation to lower the cost of insulin at a campaign event.

At the event, Robinson joked that “somebody’s blood sugar’s low” after hearing a beep from a glucose monitor from somewhere in the room.

“I know that sound,” he continued. “Somebody’s eating too many French fries in here. They look good. I might join you.”

Robinson’s comments drew laughs from the audience, but one person off screen shouted, “When are we going to make diabetes supplies more affordable?”

“As a type-1, I’d like to spend less than $800 on a box for insulin,” the individual continued. ” Why don’t you try pushing through legislation on that?”

“Well we might try to do that. We could do that,” Robinson answered. “Your legislators will write the bill and pass it. We’ll get it passed. We’ll sign it ”

The person pointed out that Republicans have “all voted no” on legislation to lower the cost of insulin.

“I don’t know whether or not I agree with that wholeheartedly,” Robinson said. “You’d have to show me where Republicans refuse to let people pay less for medicine.”

At this point someone appeared to have said something to the person off camera and Robinson agreed.

“That was gonna be my next statement. Nobody came here to see you, so please be quiet,” Robinson said.

“You don’t want to answer the hard questions,” the person shot back.

“We want you to leave, that’s what we want,” Robinson told him.
