Marsha Blackburn calls liberal women 'Stepford Wives'

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) referred to liberal women as “stepford wives” during a Fox News interview Tuesday.

Blackburn joined Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum to discuss an article published in New York Magazine titled “How Did Republican Women End Up Like This?”

In the piece Rebecca Traister examines ‘the baffling, contradictory demands of being female in the party of Donald Trump’ and the subservience of women in the GOP to the MAGA right.

Asked about the story on Fox News, Blackburn said she “laughed all the way through.”

“I thought the left absolutely requires submission of women to their ideology, and their goal is to really erase the lines of gender,” Blackburn said in a clip highlighted by Mediaite. “And they would love to be able to do that, but they require that you submit.”

Blackburn argued that it is the left that “cannot stand strong, conservative, independent-minded women who really like being female, who really like being a mom, who really like being a woman.”

“I look at the left sometimes and I say they are the Stepford Wives of the leftist ideology because you have to come right into lockstep,” she continued. “You cannot deviate if you’re going to be a female leader on the left.”
