Tennessee Republican senator Marsha Blackburn is warning Taylor Swift, her state’s biggest musical celebrity that socialism would end her career.
In 2018, the music superstar endorsed the state’s former Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen in his race against then US Rep. Marsha Blackburn to fill Sen. Bob Corker’s seat in the United States senate.
“As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn,” Swift wrote at the time.
“I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country,” she added. “I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent.”
In an interview with Breitbart News, Blackburn claimed Swift should be thankful that she won instead of Bredesen who Blackburn says would have instituted socialism which would destroy Swift’s career since socialist societies do not allow women to sing or entertain.
“Taylor Swift came after me in my 2018 campaign,” she said. “But Taylor Swift would be the first victim of that because when you look at Marxist-Socialist societies, they do not allow women to dress or sing or to be on stage or to entertain.”
She also said under socialism the government would have to approve of Swift’s music before its release.
