Maxine Waters tells Jim Jordan to "shut your mouth" at COVID hearing.

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) stepped in during a meeting of the House Coronavirus Crisis Subcommittee on Thursday to shut down Ohio congressman Jim Jordan who was ranting endlessly at Dr. Fauci, demanding that he provide definite answers about when the COVID pandemic, and when Americans will have their “liberties” back.

Fauci responded that the country will return to some level of normalcy when more Americans are vaccinated and the level of coronavirus infection is low enough that it’s “no longer a threat.”

“We had 15 days of ‘slow the spread’ turn into one year of lost liberty,” Jordan said interrupting Fauci. “What metrics, what measures, what has to happen before Americans get more freedoms back?”

“You’re indicating liberty and freedom. I look at it as a public health measure to prevent people from dying and going to the hospital,” Fauci answered. “This will end, for sure, when we get the level of infection very low. It is now at such a high level, there is a threat again of major surges.”

“You’re making this a personal thing and it isn’t,” Fauci told Jordan.

“It’s not a personal thing,” Jordan fired back.

“No, you are,” an exasperated Fauci said. “That is exactly what you’re doing.”

The back and forth continued until the subcommittee chairman Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) told Jordan his time was up.

When Jordan continued to spar with Dr. Fauci, Rep. Waters intervened, telling Jordan: “You need to respect the chair and shut your mouth.”
