McCarthy plans to force Swalwell off House Intelligence Committee.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said he will introduce legislation next week to kick California Rep. Eric Swalwell off the House Intelligence Committee because he is a national security threat due to his former ties with an alleged Chinese spy.

“Pelosi just reappointed Eric Swalwell to the Intelligence Committee. Based on the briefing she and I received together, Swalwell should not be on the panel in charge of guarding our nation’s secrets,” McCarthy tweeted. “Next week, I will offer a resolution to remove him from the Intel Committee.”

Axios reported last year that Swalwell was a target for alleged Chinese spy Christine Fang. She helped to raise money for Swalwell’s 2014 reelection bid and place an intern inside his office before leaving the country in 2015 amid a federal investigation into her actions.

Swalwell’s office said at the time that the congressman cooperated with the FBI investigation and that he’s hasn’t seen Fang in over six years.
