House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) vows to remove the House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) from the committee if Republicans win the majority in the midterm elections.
McCarthy accuse Schiff of politicizing the committee by refusing to “warn us about Ukraine or Afghanistan” and lying about intelligence regarding Hunter Biden.
“Why is he still chair of the committee? And why is he even on the committee? In a new Congress, if it’s a new majority, he will not be,” McCarthy said.
“You cannot make this committee political,” he continued. “You cannot use it as a position of a chairman to lie, and you should be focused on what the American people want you to be focused on around the world.”
This is not the first time McCarthy has threatened to remove Democrats from House committees if Republicans take the majority after the 2022 midterms. In January, he said he’d remove Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) from their respective committees.
