Vaccinated students will no longer be required to quarantine for 30 days at Florida private school.

Miami private school says students who get vaccinated must stay home for 30 days.

Students at Centner Academy in Miami, FL, will no longer be required to stay home for 30 days after getting vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to CNN, the school reversed course after receiving a letter from the Florida Department of Education last Thursday.

The DOE notified the school that they were launching an investigation after learning that the school “may employ attendance policies which require parents of recently vaccinated students to quarantine their children for an unreasonable, unnecessary and unduly burdensome amount of time before returning for in-person instruction.”

The DOE Senior Chancellor Jacob Oliva reminded the school that it has “various obligations under the law — specifically, both attendance and health, safety and welfare requirements.”

State education officials gave the school until Friday to review their policies and to ensure they are in compliance with Florida law or risk “revocation of your schools’ scholarship eligibility and funding.”

Centner’s chief operating officer, Bianca Erickson responded in a letter on Friday saying the school “will continue to be in compliance with all applicable laws,” according to CNN

“Please note, however, that the plan as announced was not implemented prior to receipt of your letter and we will not pursue any such measures,” Erickson wrote. “We conclude our response by confirming that Centner Academy is not requesting any student to quarantine at home due to vaccination status.”

Earlier this month, Centner Academy sent a letter to parents of students at the school saying all students who get vaccinated against COVID-19 will be required to quarantine for 30 days after each dose because they believe there is a risk that vaccinated students would infect unvaccinated students through “shedding.”

“If you are considering the vaccine for your Centner Academy student(s), we ask that you hold off until the Summer when there will be time for the potential transmission or shedding onto others to decrease,” the letter said, according to WSVN.

“Because of the potential impact on other students and our school community, vaccinated students will need to stay at home for 30 days post-vaccination for each dose and booster they receive and may return to school after 30 days as long as the student is healthy and symptom-free,” the letter added.

The Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Health Organization have all said that the coronavirus vaccines are safe and effective, after reviewing data from clinical trials.

According to the CDC, an individual may have some side effects after vaccination which may include fever, headache, chills, and tiredness, all these are “normal signs that your body is building protection.”
