A Michigan man who is accused of murdering his wife last year told investigators that members of the far right conspiracy group, QAnon, urged him to do it because she was a CIA asset involved in a child sex trafficking ring.
According to the Morning Sun Troy Burke, 45, shot his wife Jessica Burke, 29, three times at their home last year. He told police that he was getting messages on his tablet device from QAnon members telling him that his wife was a CIA asset who was involved in a sex trafficking ring and he needed to kill her.
Burke also told investigators that staff at a hospital in Grand Rapids implanted a “neuro-link” in his brain that allowed people to read his thoughts. He had been hospitalized several times in the past for psychological issues, according to Gratiot County Prosecutor Keith Kushion.
Two psychiatric evaluations, including one that was ordered by a judge, showed Burke wasn’t competent to stand trial.
Burke was charged with murder. His plea of not guilty by reason of insanity was accepted by Circuit Court Judge Shannon Schlegel.
Burke will now go the Michigan Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Ypsilanti for 60 days for more testing. After that, he may spend the rest of his life in a mental health facility.
