Former Vice-President Mike Pence revealed in an interview that he hasn’t spoken to the man whose supporters wanted to hang him on Jan. 6 for carrying out his constitutional duty.
Asked on Thursday when last he spoke to Donald Trump, Pence said: “You know, we talked last summer. And you know I’ve said many times, it was difficult, January 6 was difficult. It was a tragic day in the life of the nation.”
“I know I did my duty under the constitution of the United States, but the president and I sat down in the days that followed that, we spoke about it, talked through it, we parted amicably,” he added.
Trump and his allies pressured Mike Pence to overturn the results of the election in Congress on Jan. 6 by rejecting electors from key battleground. Pence refused, and supporters of the former president stormed the Capitol with chants of “hang Mike Pence.”
