Mike Pence says Trump "endangered me and my family" on Jan. 6

Former Vice-President Mike Pence said Donald Trump “endangered” him, his family and “everyone at the Capitol building” on Jan. 6 with his words during the insurrection.

Trump told his supporters during the ‘Stop the Steal’ rally that preceded the attack that they are suppose to walk to the U.S. Capitol and “fight like hell” or else “you’re not going to have a country anymore.”

Pence told ABC’s David Muir in an interview that aired on Sunday, that Trump’s words were “reckless and his actions were reckless. The president’s words that day at the rally endangered me and my family and everyone at the Capitol building.”

Trump specifically targeted Mike Pence on Jan. 6 because he refused to block the certification of electoral votes in Congress.

During the attack, Trump tweeted: “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution.”

Asked about the tweet, Pence said it “angered” him.

“I turned to my daughter, who was standing nearby, and I said, ‘It doesn’t take courage to break the law. It takes courage to uphold the law,'” he added.

Pence’s memoir “So Help Me God” is set to be released this week
