Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will quarantine after he was exposed to an individual who tested positive for coronavirus.
“Secretary Pompeo has been identified as having come into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID. For reasons of privacy we can’t identify that individual,” a State Department spokesperson said in a statement Wednesday. “The Secretary has been tested and is negative. In accordance with [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] guidelines, he will be in quarantine. He is being closely monitored by the department’s medical team.”

Pompeo has hosted a number of parties in recent days that violates CDC’s coronavirus guidelines. On Tuesday, he hosted a Christmas party at the State Department for the family members of diplomats serving overseas who stay at home whilst their loved ones are posted abroad. Out of the 900 people he invited to the event only 70 RSVP and even fewer showed up.
