Mitch McConnell booed during speech in Kentucky and told to "RETIRE".

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell,81, was heckled throughout his entire speech at an event in Kentucky with chants calling on him to retire.

McConnell spoke at the annual Fancy Farm picnic in his home state on Saturday but his remarks were drowned out by boos and chants including, “RETIRE,” ” LOST THE SENATE,” and “DITCH MITCH,” from the Democratic side of the crowd, according to CNN.

McConnell’s appearance at the event comes amid new questions about his health and political future after he froze for several seconds during a press conference last month.

McConnell told reporters after the incident that he was “fine” and his office released a statement days later saying he plans to serve as the top Republican in the Senate through 2024. They did not say whether he plans to serve as the GOP leader in the next Congress or if he plans to seek re-election in 2026.

During Saturday’s speech McConnell hinted that he has no plans to retire soon.

“This is my 28th Fancy Farm, and I want to assure you it’s not my last,” he said.
