Mitt Romney says he would support Jan. 6 commission bill.

Romney slams fellow Republicans for showing up Trump's hush money trial.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R–Utah) said on Monday that he would support a bill passed in the House to create a bipartisan 9/11-style commission to investigate the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

Romney is the first Republican senator to say publicly that he would support the bill.

The bill passed the House last week on a 252-175 vote with 35 House Republicans supporting the measure despite opposition from Republican leadership in the House.

Still, even with Romney’s support the bill is likely to fail in the Senate where Republicans are lockstep with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell who publicly opposed the bill.
