A new AP-NORC poll published Thursday shows that more voters believe that Vice-President Kamala Harris is ‘tough enough’ than Donald Trump to be president.
When registered voters were asked which presidential candidate is ‘tough enough to be president,’ 59 percent say Harris (43 percent say “extremely/very well” and 16 percent “somewhat well”). Trump trails by two points at 57 percent with 42 percent saying “extremely/very well” and 15 percent saying “somewhat well.”
There are more positive signs for Harris in the poll as 55 percent of registered voters say her presidency ‘would change the country for the better’ while 46 percent say the same for Trump.
54 percent of registered voters believe Harris ‘would fight for people like you’ compared to 43 percent for Trump.
Trump has a whopping 19 point lead over Harris when registered voters were asked who ‘will say anything to win the election’. 79 percent of respondents say Trump while 60 percent said Harris.
Overall, Harris has a 50 percent favorability rating among adults. The Democratic nominee has a 52 percent approval rating among registered voters and 41 percent among Independents.
Meanwhile, Trump has a 38 percent favorability rating among adults, 37 percent among registered voters and 32 percent among independents.
The AP-NORC poll was conducted between Sept. 12-16 among 2,028 adults and 1,771 registered voters nationwide. It has a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points for its over sample and +/- 3.5 percentage points for registered voters.
