Moskowitz, Comer clash at committee hearing: “Take your medication and leave”

Democratic lawmaker plans to support House Republicans' bill to help Israel by cutting IRS budget.

House Oversight Committee chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) and Florida Democratic congressman Rep. Jared Moskowitz traded barbs once again at a committee hearing.

On Thursday, Comer’s committee held a hearing titled: “A Legacy of Incompetence: Consequences of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Policy Failures.”

Several Republican witnesses testified before the committee including Mark Krikorian, the executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies.

Krikorian previously wrote that Haiti is “screwed up because it wasn’t colonized long enough“.

When he was recognized, Moskowitz used his time to slam the committee’s work under Comer’s leadership, particularly the failed impeachment effort of President Joe Biden.

“I want the chairman to show the American people that we didn’t just waste millions of taxpayer dollars to issue this book report,” Moskowitz said. “Mr. chairman, the Speaker is watching, you can call for impeachment right now.”

Moskowitz also slammed Comer for inviting Krikorian to testify before Congress, suggesting it was another waste of time.

“He literally brought a witness who proffered in this committee that the Haitian people would’ve been better off had they stayed in slavery for several more decades,” he said, according to a clip shared by Mediaite. “Mr. Chairman, I want you to spare you the embarrassment. You should strike his words from the record. No? You stand by your comment that the Haitian people would’ve been better off in slavery for 30 more years? Or should we strike that for the record.”

Comer ignored Moskowitz’s comments about Krikorian and zeroed on his remarks about Hunter Biden.

“I would love to be a fly on the wall when you find out that Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential election and his son pled guilty for corruption,” Comer said

Hunter Biden plead guilty to misdemeanor and felony charges in his federal tax case earlier this month.

Moskowitz demanded to know why Comer didn’t hold an impeachment vote then since he believes Hunter Biden is guilty.

“You need to take your medication and leave!” Comer said.

“Mr. Chairman, you’re several decades older than me,” Moskowitz fired back. “We know who’s taking more medication.”

Comer, who turned 52 last month, is eight years and four months older than Moskowitz, 43.

Comer and Moskowitz also got into a heated exchange during a committee hearing last year after the Democratic lawmaker questioned the Kentucky Republican about loans to his brother.

At the time Comer was leading the House impeachment probe into President Biden and pointed to a $200,000 loan Biden gave to his brother in 2018 as evidence of shady financial practices.
