Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) traded jabs with Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy on Thursday after he voted to table Greene’s resolution to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) for “antisemitic activity, sympathizing with terrorist organizations and leading an insurrection.”
After the vote, Roy explained in a statement that the text of the resolution was “deeply flawed and made legally and factually unverified claims.”
“Rep. Rashida Tlaib has repeatedly made outrageous remarks toward Israel and the Jewish people. Her conduct is unbecoming of a member of Congress and certainly worthy of condemnation – if not censure,” Roy said. “However, tonight’s feckless resolution to censure Tlaib was deeply flawed and made legally and factually unverified claims, including the claim of leading an ‘insurrection’.”
Greene responded to Roy’s statement on Twitter, accusing him of voting to kick her out of the House Freedom Caucus earlier this year.
“You voted to kick me out of the freedom caucus, but keep CNN wannabe Ken Buck and vaping groping Lauren Boebert and you voted with the Democrats to protect Terrorist Tlaib,” Greene wrote. “You hate Trump, certified Biden’s election, and could care less about J6 defendants being persecuted.”
In his response, Roy told The Hill: “Tell her to go chase so-called Jewish space lasers if she wants to spend time on that sort of thing,” a reference to a social media post Greene made in 2018 blaming the California wildfires on Jewish space lasers.
Greene wasted no time responding to Roy on Twitter.
“Oh shut up Colonel Sanders, you’re not even from Texas, more like the DMV,” she wrote. “Chip Roy’s career exist of working for politicians, working for campaigns for politicians, and being a politician himself. Unity Party all the way! Which is why you will never hold anyone accountable.”
Roy and Buck were among 23 House Republicans who joined Democrats to kill Greene’s resolution to censure Tlaib Wednesday.
After the vote, Greene published their names on Twitter writing: “List of feckless Republicans that voted WITH Democrats to table my censure resolution against Rashida Tlaib. This is why Republicans NEVER do anything to stop the communists Democrats or ever hold anyone accountable!! PATHETIC.”
