Murkowski slams Trump over Ukraine.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) broke with her party on Saturday to issue a scathing rebuke of Donald Trump and his handling of Ukraine.

In a post on X, Murkowski accused Trump of cozying up to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin while threatening to cut off aid to Ukraine after a contentious meeting at the White House with President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“This week started with administration officials refusing to acknowledge that Russia started the war in Ukraine,” Murkowski wrote. “It ends with a tense, shocking conversation in the Oval Office and whispers from the White House that they may try to end all U.S. support for Ukraine.”

The senator continues: “I know foreign policy is not for the faint of heart, but right now, I am sick to my stomach as the administration appears to be walking away from our allies and embracing Putin, a threat to democracy and U.S. values around the world.”

Murkowski’s comment comes after a hostile Oval Office meeting during which Trump and Vice President JD Vance ganged up to bully Zelensky.

Vance accused Zelensky of being “disrespectful” and demand that he show more gratitude toward Trump after the Ukrainian president rightfully pointed out that Putin cannot be trusted to not violate a ceasefire agreement.

Trump then began shouting and accused Zelensky of “gambling with World War III”.

The meeting left the future of the US support for Ukraine in doubt amid Russia’s unprovoked invasion of the country.
