Former UN ambassador, Nikki Haley, said Sen. Raphael Warnock (D) should be deported while campaigning for Republican Herschel Walker in Georgia on Sunday.
Haley, the daughter of Indian immigrants, said her parents came to the US legally and are offended by the Biden administration’s policies which she says is leading to a surge in illegal immigrants at the Southern border.
“Now I am the daughter of Indian immigrants. They came here legally. They are offended by what’s happening on that border,” Haley said at Walker’s rally in Hiram, Ga.
“Legal immigrants are more patriotic than the leftists these days. They love America and they want the laws followed in America,” she told the crowd.
“The only person we need to make sure we deport is Warnock,” Haley added, prompting cheers and applause from the crowd.
Haley, a potential candidate for the Republican Party nomination for president in 2024 has been campaigning with GOP candidates in key swing states in the final days leading up to the midterms on Tuesday.
She told attendees at Walker’s rally on Sunday that he is a good football player who won the Heisman trophy and “a good person.”
Walker’s campaign has been dogged by several controversies, including that he paid two women to get an abortion despite being a staunch anti-abortion candidate who believes there should be no exceptions for the procedure.
Walker has also made several policy gaffes and statements since he announced he was running for Senate, such as saying there are 52 states, claiming that “bad air” floated from China to replace our “good air, and telling a reporter that “what I like to do is see it and everything and stuff,” when asked about gun control legislation.
Haley calling for Warnock to be deported comes as Republicans are ramping up their attacks on Democrats around issues like immigration in the final days of the midterm election cycle.
The Georgia race is one of the most closely watched races in the country this midterm cycle since it could determine which party controls the Senate in 2023. FiveThirtyEight’s average of polls shows Walker with a 0.1 percent lead over Warnock.
