Republican senator from North Carolina, Thom Tillis announced on Friday evening that he tested positive for coronavirus.
Tillis said his rapid antigen test came back positive on Friday and he will be be self-isolating at home for ten days.
Over the last few months, I’ve been routinely tested for COVID-19, including testing negative last Saturday, but tonight my rapid antigen test came back positive. I will be following the recommendations of my doctor and will be self-isolating at home for 10 days and notifying those I’ve been in close contact with. Thankfully, I have no symptoms and I feel well. As we all know, COVID-19 is a very contagious and deadly virus, especially because many carriers are asymptomatic. I encourage all North Carolinians to follow the recommendations of medical experts, including wearing a mask, washing hands, and practicing social distancing. For any North Carolinian who believes they were exposed to the virus or starts to display symptoms, please call your doctor, self-isolate, and get tested to protect those around you.”

Tillis is facing a tough re-election against democrat Cal Cunningham, who is now getting tested as well since he was with Tillis on the debate stage.
This comes hours after Donald Trump was medevac from the White House to Walter Reed medical center for treatment less than 24 hours after he tested positive for coronavirus.
Tillis was at the White House last Saturday for a SCOTUS event in the Rose Garden where Trump named Judge Amy Coney Barrett as his nominee to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court. Utah Sen. Mike Lee was also present for the event and is also positive for the coronavirus.
