The White House confirmed that highly sensitive Yemen war plans Trump administration officials accidentally shared with a reporter are “authentic.”
“At this time, the message thread that was reported appears to be authentic, and we are reviewing how an inadvertent number was added to the chain. The thread is a demonstration of the deep and thoughtful policy coordination between senior officials,” White House National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes said.
The ongoing success of the Houthi operation demonstrates that there were no threats to our servicemembers or our national security,” Hughes added.
The Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg says officials in the Trump administration accidentally added him to a group text chat about strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen.
Goldberg said he received an invite to join a group titled “Houthi PC small group,” days after receiving a request from a Signal user identifying himself as Michael Waltz, the national security adviser.
Among those listed in the group were Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, among others.
Over the next few days they discussed operational details of forthcoming strikes on Yemen, including, the time of the attack, information about targets, weapons the U.S. would be deploying, and attack sequencing, according to Goldberg.
