Officials in Memphis, Tennessee have released four videos of the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols.
Nichols, 29, was beaten by police on January 7 after he was pulled over for reckless driving. He was taken to hospital where he died three days later.
The five officers involved in the arrest— Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Desmond Mills Jr, Emmitt Martin III and Justin Smith— were fired and charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct, and official oppression.
“He was a human piñata. It was an unadulterated, unabashed, non-stop beating of this young boy for three minutes,” attorney for Nichols’ family Antonio Romanucci said.
