J.R. Majewski, the Republican candidate running for Congress in Ohio’s 9th congressional district has been caught misrepresenting his time in the Air Force for the second time in a week, according to The Associated Press.
Last week, Majewski’s campaign said he received a nonjudicial punishment in 2001 after he was “in a fight in the dormitory with another servicemember,” which resulted in a demotion. This prevented him from reenlisting in the Air Force after his four years were up.
Nonjudicial punishments are put in place to hold service members accountable for bad behavior that does not rise to the level of a court-martial.
However, military records obtained by the AP made no mention of a fight. Instead, they show that Majewski was punished and demoted for drunken driving at Kadena Air Base in Japan on Sept. 8, 2001.
“When you decided to get behind the wheel of a vehicle after indulging in intoxicating liquor you brought discredit upon yourself, 733rd Air Mobility Squadron, and the Air Force. Further misconduct by you of any type will not be tolerated,” the disciplinary records said, according to AP.
This is the second time Majewski has been caught in a lie about his military service. Last week the AP reported that Majewski loaded planes at an air base in Qatar for six months, yet, he is on the campaign trail claiming to be an Air Force combat veteran who was deployed to Afghanistan after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
After the report the House GOP campaign arm pulled a nearly $1 million ad buy in the district that was meant to target Majewski’s Democratic opponent Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio).
The seat could have been an easy pickup for the Republican Party considering that the district was redrawn into one that Donald Trump would have narrowly won in 2020.
However, Majewski, a pro-Trump, QAnon supporting rapper and political newcomer is making things more difficult than they should be. He defeated more mainstream Republican candidates in the GOP primary after he was endorsed by Donald Trump.
