Ohio news podcast calls Jim Jordan the "worst villain in Congress"

An Ohio news podcast says Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is the “worst villain in Congress from Ohio” after he led the effort in the House to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress.

On Wednesday the House voted to hold Garland in contempt of Congress for refusing to turn over the audio recordings of President Joe Biden’s interviews with former special counsel Robert Hur, who investigated the president’s handling of classified documents. House Republicans already have transcripts of the interview.

The vote was 216 to 207 with one Republican â€“ Rep. Dave Joyce (R-Ohio) – voting against it.

In a podcast discussion, Cleveland.com editor Chris Quinn contrasted Joyce’s conduct with that of Jordan’s.

“This is how you erode the dam,” Quinn said of Joyce. “You need one leak in the dam for it to start to spread.”

Quinn praised Joyce for his “principled position” adding, “we’ve got to stop turning the Republican Party into a version of Hitler and get back to kind of the centrist American ideals for which we’ve already stood. I was blown away. He did the right thing.”

Quinn then went in on Jordan.

“And for Jim Jordan to be blasting them, to be eroding the Justice Department, faith in the Justice Department, for his political points is terrible for America, and Dave Joyce knew it,” he said. “He said it, and it’s so good that a guy from Ohio is the one that stood against the worst villain in Congress from Ohio, which is Jim Jordan.”

In the end Quinn said Wednesday’s contempt vote was “a great day for Ohio” because it showed the world that not everyone from the state is like Jordan or Sen. JD Vance, the former Trump critic turn loyal sycophant.
