This was probably not what Donald Trump had in mind when he decided to return to the city where he spent at least 70 years of his life.
According to the New York Post, Trump arrived at Trump Tower around 9 pm on Sunday and waved to a single supporter from the back of his SUV.
The lone Trump supporter could be heard screaming “Welcome back to New York!” and “President Trump, what’s up bro?” as his motorcade pulled up to his Midtown skyscraper.
It is not clear what he is doing in New York. Trump switched his residency to his Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, in October 2019, where he has been since leaving the White House in January.
Trump’s financial affairs are currently under investigation by the Manhattan district attorney, Cyrus Vance Jr., and the state attorney general, Letitia James.
