Pence urges DOJ not to indict Trump: “I think that would be terribly divisive"

Former Vice-President Mike Pence urged the Department of Justice not to indict Donald Trump because it would be too “divisive” for the country.

“I hope the Justice Department understands the magnitude, the very idea of indicting a former president of the United States,” Pence said on Fox News Monday.

“I think that would be terribly divisive in the country at a time when the American people want to see us heal. At this time of year, we’re all thinking about the most important things in our lives, our faith, our family, and my hope is the Justice Department will think very carefully with how they proceed in that regard,” Pence added.

Pence’s comments come hours before the House Committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot is set to meet for the final time. Members of the committee are expected to refer Donald Trump to the DOJ for criminal charges.

According to NBC News, the committee is expected to vote on at least three criminal charges against Trump related to the Capitol riot: obstructing an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the government and inciting or assisting an insurrection.

  1. Why does he continue to protect a criminal? If the roles were reversed (doubtful but IF), Trump would say ‘hang that Pence!”
