Pete Hegseth orders makeup room installed at the Pentagon.

Defense Secretary and former Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Pete Hegseth, has reportedly ordered that a makeup studio be installed at the Pentagon, CBS News reports.

Hesgeth recently ordered that the room next to the Pentagon press briefing room be modified into a makeup studio to help him prepare for television appearances.

The room was upgraded to include a new chair, a large mirror with makeup lighting, a director’s chair and a new countertop.

The project cost several thousand dollars and comes at a time when the Trump administration is looking to cut cost across the federal government.

A Defense Department spokesperson told CBS News in a statement that they were “deliberately conservative and opted for several less expensive, on-hand materiel solutions.”

“Changes and upgrades to the Pentagon Briefing Room are nothing new and routinely happen during changes in an administration,” the spokesperson added.

The news comes amid mounting scandals for Hegseth that has led at least one Republican in Congress to call on Trump to fire him.

John Ullyot, the Pentagon’s former top spokesperson who stepped down last week, criticized Hegseth in a POLITICO Magazine op-ed alleging “total chaos” has broken out on his watch.

The New York Times also reported on Sunday about a second signal group chat where Hegseth discussed military strikes with members of his family.

In response, Hegseth blamed the media and ‘disgruntled former employees’ for him discussing sensitive information in an unsecured signal chat with his family.

“This is what the media does, they take anonymous sources from disgruntled former employees and they try to slash and burn people and ruin their reputations,” he said. “Not going to work with me because we’re changing the defense department, putting the Pentagon back in the hands of warfighters and anonymous smears from disgruntled former employees on old news doesn’t matter.”
