Police identify suspect in Monterey Park mass shooting.

Mass shooting in California leaves 10 dead.

The gunman who murdered 10 people and injured 10 others in Monterey Park, California Saturday night has been identified as Huu Can Tran.

Tran, 72, killed himself after police pulled over his white cargo van in Torrance, California on Sunday. A handgun was recovered from inside the van.

Police say five men and five women were killed and another 10 wounded in the shooting at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park around 10:30 p.m Saturday night after a Lunar New Year festival, CBS reports.

Half an hour later Tran entered the Lai Lai Ballroom in Alhambra with a gun before two individuals wrestled the firearm from him. A magazine-fed semi automatic assault pistol with extended large capacity magazine was recovered in Alhambra.

There is still no clear motive for the shooting.

“We still are not clear on the motive,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said. “The investigation continues and that is something that… we want to know. We want to know how something like this, something this awful can happen.”
