Fort Lauderdale Police Department released the bodycam footage of Trump’s former campaign manager Brad Parscale’s encounter with officers on Sunday.
Police responded to a 911 call from Parscale’s wife, Candice who fled their home fearing for her life after a domestic dispute. In the video, Candice tells authorities Brad “cocked his handgun” in front of her before going back into his home office.
Officers say Parscale was drunk and agitated when they arrived at the scene and he refused to exit his home until a close friend who happens to be a police officer manage to coax him out of the house.
“I’m not trying to kill myself,” Parscale says when he emerges from the house, shirtless. He did not comply when officers told him to get on the ground and so he was tackled.
Parscale was taken to to the hospital under Florida’s Baker Act, which gives authorities the power to detain an individual who they believe pose a threat to themselves and to others.
Candice told the police that Brad had been “stressed out” over the previous two weeks, “drinks alcohol, “suffers from PTSD” and had a gun collection in their home. Officers took 10 firearms from Parscale’s home, including multiple pistols, a shotgun, and a rifle.
