A pro-Palestine group has vandalized parts of Donald Trump’s golf course in Scotland.
According to BBC, red paint was daubed on the floor and buildings of the Trump Turnberry golf course in Ayrshire, and “Gaza is not for sale” was painted across the lawn. Parts of the green appears to have also been dug up.
In a statement the group responsible, Palestine Action, said the protest was in response to Trump’s plan to have the United States ‘take over’ Gaza and displaced millions of Palestinians from their homeland.
“Palestine Action rejects Donald Trump’s treatment of Gaza as though it were his property to dispose of as he likes,” the group said. “To make that clear, we have shown him that his own property is not safe from acts of resistance.”
At a White House news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last month, Trump detailed a plan to build new settlements for Palestinians outside the Gaza Strip, and for the U.S. to take “ownership” in redeveloping Gaza into “the Riviera of the Middle East.”
Trump’s comments earned swift condemnation from Arab nations in the region and American allies.
Despite the push back, Trump has doubled down. Late last month he posted an AI generated video promoting the transformation of Gaza into a Gulf state-like resort complete with a golden statue of himself, a hummus-eating Elon Musk, bearded belly dancers and shirtless American and Israeli leaders lounging on a beach.
A spokesperson for Trump Turnberry called the protest a “childish, criminal act,” adding, “the incredible team at Trump Turnberry will ensure it does not impact business.”
Police in Scotland are investigating.
