Garret Miller, a Texas man who was a part of the pro-Trump mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6 had issued online death threats against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and a Capitol Police officer, according court documents.
Miller posted a video to Twitter on the evening of Jan. 6 “From inside congress.” The 14-second video “pans across a crowd who is inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, waving pro-Trump and American flags,” the FBI said.
He posted a selfie to Facebook from inside the Capitol with the caption “just wanted to incriminate myself a little lol.”

He also responded to a tweet from Rep. Ocasio-Cortez who called for Trump to be impeached, saying: “We acted with honor and we where not armed. We where gentle with the police. They murdered a child.” In a direct follow-up tweet he said, “Assassinate AOC.”

He also said that the Capitol Police officer who shot and killed a Trump supporter during the riot “deserves to die” and won’t “survive long” because it’s “huntin season,” according to CNN.

Before the attack Miller wrote on Facebook: “I am about to drive across the country for this trump s–t. On Monday . . . Some crazy s–t going to happen this week. Dollar might collapse. . . . civil war could start . . . not sure what to do in DC.” The next day he said that he was bringing “a grappling hook and rope and a level 3 vest. Helmets mouth guard and bump cap,” but last time he came to D.C. for a pro-Trump rally he “had a lot of guns” with him, the complaint says.

He has been charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted buildings or grounds without lawful authority; violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; obstructing or impeding any official proceeding; certain acts during civil disorder.
Miller’s lawyer dismissed his threats against a sitting member of Congress and a cop as a “sort of misguided political hyperbole” adding that he “certainly regrets what he did.”
