Pro-Trump youth group, Turning Point USA deleted a photo mocking face masks after Bill Montgomery, their 80-year-old co-founder died of COVID complications, Business Insider reports.
Montgomery passed away on Tuesday according to conservative strategist, Caleb Hull, and Chicago journalist Vic Maggio.
The group’s chairman, Charlie Kirk paid tribute to Montgomery Tuesday evening, calling him an “American hero” who “believed in me. He poured his heart & soul & time into me. He took a risk on me and without Bill Montgomery, there is no @TPUSA”
On the same day, an image mocking the wearing of a facemask was posted showing Nicolas Cage and the message “me not wearing a mask while a leftist screams at me from their car from across the parking lot at whole foods.”
The group has been criticizing measures meant to mitigate the spread of the virus such as wearing a mask.
