Russian President Vladimir Putin hailed President Joe Biden’s mental fitness even as some Republicans and right wing media question his ability to lead because of his age.
While responding to a Russian senator’s question about whether Biden was suffering from “dementia,” Putin said, “the image of President Biden that our, and even American, media present has nothing to do with reality.”
“Biden’s a professional, you have to be very attentive with him so as not to miss anything. He doesn’t let anything get by, I assure you,” Putin said, according to Bloomberg.
Putin also defended Biden after state media repeatedly noted that he used note cards at the summit. “We all do that,” Putin said.
The Russian leader was not so warm in his comments about White House Press Secretary Jeb Psaki, who was the State Department’s spokeswoman in 2014 at the start of the Ukraine conflict.
“His press secretary is a young, educated, beautiful woman who’s always mixing things up,” Putin said. Biden, on the other hand, is “collected, knows what he wants to achieve and does it adroitly,” Putin said.
This as some Republicans in the U.S. continue to paint President Biden as a doddering geriatric incapable of running the White House or the government.
Former Trump physician turn Republican lawmaker, Rep. Ronny Jackson (Texas) led an effort among House Republicans to sign on to a letter calling on President Biden to take a cognitive test to prove he is mentally fit to be commander in chief.
